IUP has announced they have selected someone to serve as the interim Dean of the College of Education and Communications.
Dr. Sue Rieg will take over for Dr. Laura Luetkehans, who is currently serving as the university’s interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. Rieg had retired from IUP after 20 years as a faculty member and administrator, including a recent stint as assistant chairperson for the Department of Professional Studies in Education. Before IUP, she was an elementary school principal and teacher in the Indiana Area School District.
Luetkehans had high praise for Rieg. In a statement from IUP, Luetkehans said Rieg’s nearly four decades of educational experience helped her become a great leader in the office of the Dean of Education and Communications. Luetkehans also cited the interim Dean’s success in securing grants, including a near $1 million grant for teacher innovation.
Rieg started in her new post on August 16th.
