GAYLORD — The Northland Sportsmen’s Club will host a Hunter Education Field Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 24.
The instructional program will take place at the club site,1592 Old Alba Road in Gaylord. This is a necessary requirement to complete the hunter education/hunter safety program if you have taken the online class and have your certificate. This is also the last step in the home study program if you have completed the chapter reviews in the workbook. There is no fee for this program.
To register for this class text your name, age, and if you have an online certificate or need the workbook to (989) 619-9393 or (231) 499-1272. Arrangements will be made for you to pick up the workbook at the Northland Sportsmen’s Club.
Any students age 10 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
The morning will be spent in review of the program. Bring your own lunch – water and coffee will be provided. The afternoon will be spent on the range with the opportunity to shoot a .22 rifle, a shotgun, a bow and a muzzleloader. Dress appropriately for the weather and shooting. The club will provide all firearms, ammo, bows, and ear/eye protection.
To complete the day there will be a test. You must pass with a score of at least 80% to receive your hunter education certificate. This class will be limited to 50 participants. Any current COVID-19 restrictions will apply and may dictate the class size.
